How to Change the Name of Start Menu in Windows XP

Filed under: Others — admin @ 11:01 AM

You have two choices , either download Tclock2 or download Resource Hacker…. Both does the job!

First you must go to the file explorer.axe located at C:Windows because this is the file which is meant to be edited for the above risk-full process of altering the name on windows XP start tab..

First of all let us make sure that the file ‘explorer.axe’ is secure……… I mean ……….. Backup it!

here are the steps for doing this process using Resource hacker:-(Since the other one is really easy)

1)Start resource hacker and open c:/windows/explorer.axe in it..

2)Now you’ll see some options like ‘bitmap, icon, menu, dialog, stringtable, accelerators’etc. The catogory we are going to use for this process is ’string table’. Expand the string table option by clicking at the star icon which will be present beside the ’string table’ option. Then sub options named in consicutive numbers will appear(20,21,22,23 etc)

3)Click on the option ‘37′(38 if you’re using the clasiic theme in xp), you’ll find a sub option 1033. Click it(why would i say that!). Then on the right side of the body of the page of resource hacker will appear some text. The text is:

STRINGTABLE

LANGUAGE LANG_ENGLISH, SUBLANG_ENGLISH_US

{

578,  “start”

579,  “there was an internal error and……(so on)

580,  “restrictions”

581,  “this operation has been canceled due to …….(so on)

590,  “hiding your inactive notification icons”

591,  “To see the hidden icons click this balloon”

}

That’s it!(sorry , this is not one among the script above)

now edit the “start” text above and type the name you prefers..!

and click the ‘compile script’ icon which will be present on the tab above the script.

now go to file and click save as (try not to click ’save’)

save the file in the name you prefers but remember to add ‘.axe’ after the name.(save the file in c:windows)

go to start -> run and type regedit:.

after ‘entering’ regedit , navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion Winlogon

now so many options including sfcquota, shell etc will came to front

double click the shell option . then a popup menu will appear, named ‘edit string’.(shown in the figure)

below the value data: type the name of the file you edited and saved just before….click o.k

restart your machine

if the process you did has gone as planned ……….you’ll see your start button in a new name…….

Editing the Search function from the Start Button (right click) context menu may cease to function.shell modifications and ad-aware could lead to …. Windows not starting.

A slide show may be converted to a web page in just a few simple steps using the Microsoft Office suite’s PowerPoint application.

PowerPoint slide shows converted to web pages lose some functionality, such as animated graphics and text. However, converting a slide show to a web page is very useful for sharing presentation materials in a manageable medium over the web.

  • Open the slide show in the Microsoft PowerPoint application.
  • Click the round Microsoft Office button in the top left corner of the PowerPoint interface.
  • Click “Save As…”.
  • Type a name for the converted presentation in the “File Name” input box.
  • Select the “Web Page (.htm, .html)” option from the dropdown box labeled “Save as Type.”
  • Click the “OK” button. The slide show presentation will save as a web page. The web page is included in an .htm file and in a folder including graphics and scripts.

How to Make Unlimited Long International Calls for Free

Filed under: Others — admin @ 7:12 AM

No one stays put any more. Gone are the days when families stayed in one place their whole lifetime. People move for a variety of reasons, following new jobs, new loves, better weather, better opportunities. It is very rare that people live near extended families. Sometimes, like after a divorce, the immediate family does not even live close by. It may be difficult, frustrating, or just not fair, but it is the reality of life.

When that happens, we do the best we can to keep in touch with the ones we care about. There are many ways of communicating long distance. Phone service providers often offer wonderful deals on long distance phone calls. But there is no better deal than calling for free.

  • Go on the Internet, and find the web site for SKYPE. It is an easy to use application for communication via Internet. You can download the application for free. Once downloaded, a small icon for SKYPE will appear on your computer.
  • Before you can use SKYPE, you need to register. It is very simple. Just follow the instructions and select your username and password. Pick and choose what type of information you want to share with others. Play around with your profile settings, so that they are just so.
  • E-mail all your friends and family that you can be contacted via SKYPE. Share your username with them. Ask them to send you theirs. When you are ready to contact people, click on the “New Contacts” button and type in the user names you are searching for.
Add them as a contact and when they confirm you as their contact, you are ready to start. If you do not have the username of the person you are searching for, simply write down their name and hope that you can find the person.
If several people with the same name appear, you can ask them via instant message if they are the person you’re looking for.
  • SKYPE allows you to send instant messages back and forth, call each other, or even make contact using the web camera.
  • If you want to speak with someone regularly , it is smart to agree on the time before hand. That way you can expect SKYPE to ring and be on the lookout. Sometimes when you are not close by to the computer, you cannot hear it ring. The ring tone is not as pronounced as it would be on a regular phone.
  • The only disadvantage of using SKYPE would be that you’re somewhat limited in your movement while using it.

How to Remove a Trojan Win32 Agent Malware

Filed under: Others — admin @ 7:08 AM

Trojan Win32 Agent is a Type of Malware which is capable of installing software/programs on your computer without your permission. The program installed will launch whenever your computer is restarted/rebooted. These types of Trojans may even steal your Data files according to the wish of the hacker.

While you can get rid of a Trojan Win32 Agent manually, the removal process can be difficult for some, and in some cases may still not be enough to properly remove the infection. For most computer users, antivirus software will be the best method for both removing the trojan and protecting the computer from future infections.

How to Remove it?

  • Download and install an antivirus program such as McAfee Antivirus, Norton Antivirus, Avast Antivirus or any highly rated antivirus software. If the trojan has rendered you unable to connect to the Internet, download the software in Windows “Safe Mode with Networking.” If necessary, use another computer to download the software to a CD or USB drive, and then install the program from the device.
  • Run the antivirus program. Update the software’s definitions; usually antivirus software, after installation, is not completely up-to-date. This means it might not be able to detect the Trojan Win32 Agent until it is updated. An update utility program is included with most antivirus software. Launch this utility upon running the software.
  • After the definitions have updated, use the software to designate which files and folders you want scanned. It’s usually a good idea to scan the entire hard disk.
  • Press the scan button and allow the software to search for the Trojan Win32 Agent. This may take anywhere from several minutes to a few hours.
  • Follow the antivirus software’s instructions on how to remove the trojan. Some antivirus software will automatically remove the infection; other such software will allow you to either quarantine or delete the infection.
  • Schedule your antivirus software to scan your drive at least once a week. Configure the software so that it will scan every file you download to make sure none are infected. Most virus removal software will do this automatically.
After the definitions have updated, use the software to designate which files and folders you want scanned. It’s usually a good idea to scan the entire hard disk.

Because some antivirus software may not detect everything, it’s a good idea to use more than one such program.
