Windows Vista is a great place to tweak your computer into what you want. You can change the power button which located in the start menu to other settings. Here is how to do it.

Step 1

Go to the “Start” button on your desktop and left click on it.

Step 2

In the Start Menu type in the search box “powercfg.cpl” (Just like that without the quotes)and press enter.

Step 3

A Power Options window will pop up. Under your Preferred plans options you have one of those selected, which ever one is selected click on “change plan settings”

Step 4

This will move you to another window where you will select the “Change advanced power settings” option.

Step 5

In this window scroll down to “Power buttons and lid” and expand that. Move down to “Start menu power button” and expand that. Move over to “Setting:” and there you can change the behavior of the power button.

Step 6

After you have chosen the behavior you would like to have click on the “Apply” option and then “OK” close all the windows and you will see that the power button has now been changed. Congratulations and happy computing.
