How to Change the WEP Key of an HP Laptop

Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) is need in an HP laptop to log into a network implementing WEP security. You can update the WEP key on an HP laptop using these simple steps.

  1. Go to Windows Control Panel
  2. Select the ‘Network and Sharing’ Option.
  3. Click ‘Manage Wireless Networks’ link which is placed in the Left side Navigation bar of Network & Sharing Center.
  4. Find out the WEP enabled network for which the Key must be changed on the Laptop.
  5. ‘Wireless Properties’ Dialogue box will appear. Click security tab.
  6. There you can see an input box named  Network Security Key’ . Enter your Primary WEP key into it.
  7. Click Ok. The WEP Key has been changed.
  8. To test the new key entry, Connect to the ‘WEP-enabled network’
