Assigning each file a new name one at a time is too time consuming. Instead, give all your files a new name at the same time.

  1. Step 1

Search for a folder that has file names you would like to change. Oftentimes, it will be in your “pictures” file. You can get there from selecting the start icon on the bottom left corner of your computer screen. Then select “Pictures”, or “My Pictures” from the list.

  2. Step 2

Once you have the specific files you want to rename, click the first file once to highlight it.

  3. Step 3

Hold down “Control+A” keys at the same time to select all files at once.

  4. Step 4

Right click on your mouse over the highlighted list. A window will open with a list of choices. Select “rename”.

  5. Step 5

The first file will now allow you to give it a new name. Be sure not to edit the type of file, such as jpg, gif, png. Type in the new name of the file and hit “enter”.

  6. Step 6

    Click pic to enlarge.

Notice that all your files are automatically in numerical sequence, such as: My Pics(1), My Pics(2), etc. Congratulations, you are all done.
